Amaterasu, Goddess of the Sun

Pour un projet personnel, j’ai voulu réaliser le character design d’Amaterasu, la déesse du soleil dans la mythologie japonaise. Peu de temps auparavant, j’avais travaillé sur un autre projet dans lequel je devais créer trois bâtiments. J’ai choisi de les concevoir en l’honneur d’Amaterasu : le temple où l’on la prie, le dojo où les guerriers sont protégés et deviennent plus forts, et le shogun qui s’incline devant elle.

Je souhaitais compléter ce travail en créant un véritable character design d’Amaterasu, en cohérence avec ces bâtiments. J’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à travailler sur ce projet. Il était difficile de bien représenter sa pose à cause de sa longue robe, mais l’expérience a été très enrichissante. Ma partie préférée a été la conception de ses miroirs, qui symbolisent Amaterasu dans la mythologie.

For a personal project, I wanted to create a character design of Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun in Japanese mythology. Not long before that, I had worked on another project in which I had to design three buildings. I chose to dedicate them to Amaterasu: the temple where people pray to her, the dojo where they are protected and grow stronger, and the shogun who bows to her.

I wanted to complete this work by creating a proper character design of Amaterasu that would match these buildings. I had a lot of fun working on this project. It was challenging to clearly show her pose because of her long dress, but it was a very rewarding experience. My favorite part was designing her mirrors, which symbolize Amaterasu in mythology.
